“INCREASING TRADE & INVESTMENT TO REACH GROWTH”

The Hellenic
Federation of Enterprises (SEV), the Federation of
Industries of Northern Greece (FING) and the Greek
International Business Organization (SEVE) with the
support of UNDP and UBCCE are organizing the BLACK
SEA BUSINESS FORUM, in Thessaloniki, Greece on
Thursday February 23rd, 2012.
Entitled “Increasing Trade & Investment to Reach
Growth”, the aim of the Forum is to provide a
practical platform for enterprises of the region to
engage in bilateral discussions and business
meetings to engage in direct discussions for
eventual new synergies, partnerships and agreements.
Participants in the Forum will be companies from
Greece, Albania, FYROM, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia,
Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia
whose business is in the following sectors:
- food & beverages
- packaging, plastics, glass
- chemicals, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, hygiene
products and services
- building materials.
It is expected that 100 Greek companies which are
manufacturers and producers in the above sectors and
more than 40 foreign companies, which are importers,
distributors or wholesalers will participate to this
trade-focused event. For each participating foreign
company the organizers will prepare a series of
pre-arranged B2B meetings, from 15 to 20 in average,
with Greek counterparts. The meetings will be
arranged based on activities and demands and will be
communicated in advance to the interested parties.
In addition, foreign participants may have the
opportunity to visit Greek companies in their
premises or factories for further discussions. The
working sessions of the Forum will also touch upon
new services and mechanisms to facilitate
internationalization, financing tools, trends and
prospects in the markets including presentations of
relevant case studies.
In order to facilitate attendance, the Organizers
are offering to cover travel expenses for a number
of foreign participants on first come first served
basis. In particular, they will book and pay
directly to Holiday Inn Hotel (which is the venue of
the Forum) accommodation for 2 nights, from 22nd to
24th February and will reimburse the cost of flight
tickets, either the total amount or up to a certain
limit (varying by country of origin).
Companies active in the above fields are invited to
take part in this business event and hold several
individual meetings which may allow them to identify
new trade partners or even complete new agreements
for various types of partnerships. Should they wish
to benefit form the above offer interested companies
are kindly asked to fill in the attached

SOUTH-EAST EUROPEAN FORUM ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND
RENEWABLE ENERGY, WASTE MANAGEMENT, RECYCLING &
ENVIRONMENT

The latest green
energy and waste management technologies will be
presented at the South-East European Forum,
incorporating Congress and Exhibition on Energy
Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RES), SEE
Solar Exhibition and Conference and Exhibition on

EUROPEAN RENEWABLE
ENERGY PROJECT FINANCE SUMMIT

There is no doubt that
renewables is the hottest and most substantial
sector of energy industry today. EU member states
are taking variety of measures in order to attract
investors and improve regulatory and legal
environment of the green sector. The emerging CEE
countries have also focused on boosting green

“COMPETITIVENESS IN A LOW CARBON ECONOMY
PROSPECTS FOR 2012 AND BEYOND”
Istanbul, Turkey, December 22
A regional conference
entitled “Competitiveness in a Low Carbon Future:
Prospects for 2012 and Beyond” took place on
December 22, in Istanbul, to mark the end of our
ongoing project with GIZ with a concluding and a
more general guidance document for all our member
business associations.
Attended over 175 delegates, the event was held
together with the Turkish Industry and Business
Association (TÜSİAD) in order to assess current and
future policy options for Turkey and in particular
its business community in the light of the outcomes
of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP
17), held in Durban.

opening speeches of the Conference were delivered by
the Minister of Environment and Urban Planning of

BLACK SEA ENERGY
AND ECONOMIC FORUM (BSEEF)

The third annual Black
Sea Energy & Economic Forum (BSEEF) will take place
on November 17-18, 2011 at Istanbul Swissotel with
the already confirmed attendance of Turkish Prime
Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan along with several
Ministers from Turkey and the Wider Black Sea
Region.
The Forum is a regional initiative of the Atlantic
Council annually bringing together an elite circle
of panelists composed of business leaders and
policymakers who shape the Eurasian and global
energy landscape. The Forum’s agenda is
traditionally focused on energy, economic growth,
political integration and other trends influencing
the region’s dynamics. It primarily aims to foster
multilateral dialogue both among regional leaders
and their Western counterparts.
Last year's Forum hosted two heads of states, eight
cabinet ministers from different countries of the
Region and over 300 very high-level attendees from
media, academia, business and government circles.
Following the Memorandum of Understanding signed
between UBCCE and the Atlantic Council in February
2011, our Union is a "strategic partner" of the
BSEEF for its 2011 event.

jointly organized the Eastern Partnership Business
Forum, as a part of the European Forum for New
Ideas, in Sopot on September 30.
The Eastern Partnership Business Forum aims at boosting
cooperation among businesses in Europe through the
exchange of ideas, investment opportunities and joint
projects, delivering also messages from business to the
political leaders of the EU and EaP countries.
High-level political personalities were invited,
including Mr. Herman Van Rompuy – President of the
European Council, José Manuel Durão Barroso – President
of the European Commission and Jerzy Buzek – President

FORUM
“BUSINESS GOES GREEN !
INVEST IN GEORGIA – INVEST IN THE BLACK SEA & CASPIAN”
Batumi, Georgia, 30 June – 2 July 2011
The Fourth Business Forum of UBCCE took place this year in Batumi, Georgia between June 30 and July 2,
hosted by Georgian Entrepreneurs Confederation (GEC).
This year’s event supported also by the National Investment Agency of
Georgia, Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation (TURKONFED) as
well as the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), concentrated on investment and trade opportunities of Georgia while
taking account of new tendancies of the Black Sea and Caspian Region
towards “green business”.
Following the successfully held three Business Forums in Azerbaijan,
Turkey and Greece, this fourth event, was held in a seaside city on
the Black Sea coast near Turkish border. A major port and trade center,
Batumi is also the capital of Adjarian Autonomous Republic and the last
stop of the Transcaucasian Railway and the Baku oil pipeline.
Key personalities and high level officials engaged
in challenging debates, while specific presentations were delivered
by competent authorities, pointing out the investment and trade
opportunities of Georgia and the green potential of the Region. B2B
meetings and a visit to the newly established Poti Free Industrial Zone
were arranged for participants of the Forum.

GIZ Eschborn Dialogue
Eschborn, June 21-22
The GIZ yearly chooses a
key topic from the current debate within international
cooperation to become the spotlight of the year. This year’s spotlight
was “Responsible
Economic Action - Sustainable Development”.
In line with the spotlight a
Eschborn Dialogue addressing this topic took place on
June 21-22, in Eschborn, Germany. Participants from all
fields, business, industry, and civil society joined the talks and took a look at the
issue from the perspective of international cooperation
as well as to contribute themselves.
UBCCE Secretary General, Murat Zöngür was also invited to
participate to one of the discussion forums entitled "
Changing economies: Sustainability as driver for
economic transformation."
First Black Sea
Partnership Forum on Information and
Communication Technology Services (CONNECT)
Bucharest, June 9-10
UNDP Black Sea Trade and Investment Programme
(BSTIP) organized on June 9 – 10, in Bucharest,
Romania, the First Black Sea Partnership Forum on
Information and Communication Technology Services
“CONNECT” in co-operation with the Association for
Information Technology and Communication of Romania.
The Forum attracted participation of
100 private companies active in the ICT sector from
the 12 countries covered by our BSTIP Programme
(Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia,
Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and
Ukraine). Registered companies benefited from a
series of one-to-one meetings arranged on the basis
of a prior screening of the company profiles
submitted by participants.

Hungary, May 27
The Eastern Partnership
Ministerial meeting took place in Budapest and Godollo,
on May 27. The Summit provided an opportunity to take
stock of the implementation of the Eastern Partnership.
It also allowed the EU and the partner countries to
discuss the further implementation of the Eastern
Partnership with a view to supporting further reforms
and strengthening and deepening the relations between
the EU and the partner countries on the basis of common
values.

Better Policies for Better Lives
Paris, France, May 24 – 26
OECD’s 50th Anniversary
Week combined the annual OECD Ministerial Meeting and
Forum between May 24 and 26, in Paris, France. The
Forum, a public event, brougt together ministers,
business, labour, civil society and academia to share
policies and ideas, and feed into the Ministerial
Meeting, where government leaders and ministers
discussed issues on the global agenda.
For the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, the adoption
of the “OECD Green Growth Strategy” was a major input to
the UN Conference on Sustainable Development process.
The strategy was designed to help governments identify
the policies that will propel green growth and decrease
losses in the transitional phase. In addition to the
synthesis report which was presented at the meeting also
a document recommending a set of tools for measuring
progress towards green growth was published as well as
various reports on food, agriculture and energy.
Kazakhstan Investment
Forum
Astana, Kazakhstan, May 19
Kazakhstan Investment
Forum was held in Astana, on May 19, within the European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Annual
Meeting of the Board of Governors. Organized by the
National Export and Investment Agency “KAZNEX INVEST”,
and under the patronage of the Ministry of Finance and
the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the
Republic of Kazakhstan, the event was attended by
representatives of major international corporations and
investors interested in cooperation with Kazakhstan, as
well as academics, politicians and experts from
international business and financial circles. The Forum
was with the participation of Prime-Minister of the
Republic of Kazakhstan and the President of EBRD, urgent
problems and seek of new opportunities on the path to
long-term stable development investment cooperation in
Kazakhstan were discussed in all three panel sessions.
UBCCE member, KAZENERGY was the co-organizer of Panel
Session II on opportunities in the oil and gas sector.

The Foreign Investors
Association of Albania (FIAA) with the support of the
Ministry of Tourism, Culture Youth and Sports of Albania
organised the second edition of the expo-conference
on Tourism and Real Estate in Albania “TREA ALBEXPO” in
14 - 15 April 2011, in Tirana, Albania.
This event consisted on:

7th South-East
European Congress and Exhibition on Energy
Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources
Sofia, Bulgaria, 13-15 April 2011
T he
7th edition of the South-East
European Congress and Exhibition on Energy
Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources took place in Sofia, Bulgaria between 13 and 15
April 2011.
The event was
a
great opportunity for the leading
companies
in the sectors to bring modern technologies,
products and services to the Region, to find new
partners and clients.
The highlights in the Congress Program were
Energy Efficiency and Renewable Financing -
International and Local Incentive Programs,
Energy Efficiency and Decentralized Energy,
Waste-to-Energy, RES Electricity & Smart Grid
Platform.
Special accent was put on the
Waste-to-Energy session with 15 speakers from 10
countries including Germany, Austria, Romania,
Slovenia, Japan, Canada, USA, UK, Serbia and
Switzerland.
In the framework of the Event, a Solar Business Forum
was held for
the
Balkans,
for the fist time,
where
the opportunities for investment and production
of
solar

Save the Planet
International Eco Forum
South-East European Conference & Exhibition on Waste
Management & Recycling
Sofia, Bulgaria, 13-15 April 2011
All business spheres and
institutions face new higher standards concerning
efficient use of soil, water, air and waste due to
climate changes. In the recent years it was an evident
fact that the economic progress is impossible without
environmental sustainability.
The objective of the second edition of International Eco
Forum Save the Planet was to bring forward the technology
transfer from Europe to Balkan Region in regard to the
environment protection. The Conference and Exhibition
focused on extending the themes in the waste
management sector and recycling.
The Forum was held on April 13 – 15, parallel to the 7th
International Congress and Exhibition on Renewable
Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency.
The participation in the specialized forum enabled
direct contact with professionals and investors from
Europe; to receive specific information on market trends
in South-East European Region; and to realize trade and
technical cooperation.

Summit 2011

“The New Era of Green Entrepreneurship”

SEV Hellenic Federation of Enterprises and the
Federation of Industries of Northern Greece (FING) jointly organised the major international event “Black
Sea Business Forum: The new Era of Green
Entrepreneurship” on 26 November, in Thessaloniki,
Greece. The Forum took place in parallel to the
meeting of the BSEC Foreign Affairs Ministers, under the
auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the
Hellenic Republic.
This business gathering of stake holders of the Black
Sea region provided participants with the unique
opportunity to gain knowledge on challenges and
opportunities ahead regarding green development and
business prosperity in the wider area. It focused on
a broad spectrum of fields such as energy and renewable
sources, wind and solar power, photovoltaics, energy
efficiency, biomass and biofuels, water management and
wastewater treatment, waste management, construction
projects, innovative construction materials, financing
of green development and the role of financial
institutions, use research and innovation to advance
green entrepreneurship. As an added value the Forum offered a platform for networking and partnership building
through targeted, prescheduled and pre-prepared B2B
meetings between participants.

Second Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum
Berlin, Germany, 18 – 19 November 2010
The Second Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (CSF)
took place on 18-19 November 2010 in Berlin,
Germany. The overall aim of the Forum was to promote
contacts among Civil Society Organisations and
facilitate their dialogue with public authorities in
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Republic of
Moldova and Ukraine.
The meeting intered alia give an opportunity to take
stock of what has been achieved since November 2009 when
the initial meeting of the Forum took place and to
discuss how the Forum should evolve in the future. A
total of 230 Civil Society Organisations alongside UBCCE
had been invited to participate in the second meeting
of the Forum.

Black Sea Forum on
Renewable Energy
Bucharest, Romania, 8–9 November 2010
The Black Sea Forum on
Renewable Energy together with the Black Sea Exbition on
Renewable Energy - Distributors Day was held in
Bucharest, Romania between 8 and 9 November 2010.
BSFRE is essentially meant
to further promote the objectives of the Black Sea
Synergy on energy, encourage the exchange of best
practices on renewable energy sources, and provide
further independent analysis on renewable energy.
BSFRE's Inaugural Conference's key areas included
renewable energy policies and instruments, financing
aspects, research and development actvities, etc.
The Forum was
organized by Gillier Humanity Foundation and Romanian
Associations active in this field: SUNE - Romanian
Association for Renewable Industry, ACPR - Alliance of
Romanian Employers' Confederation (UBCCE member), FPEn -
Romanian Federation for Energy, in cooperation with
Prahova County Council and their Agency for Energy
Efficiency and Renewable Energy, with support of
Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of
Economy, Trade and Business Environment.
