UBCCE THIRD MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

Istanbul - Turkey, October 23

UBCCE held its third Management Committee Meeting on October 23, a day after the Business Forum in TÜSİAD Headquarters to evaluate the activities of the Union following the General Assembly and to discuss its upcoming calendar following an Agenda prepared by the Secretariat.

Vladimir Kolmogorov - Vice President of International Congress of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ICIE), Elchin Seidov - Member of ICIE Transport and Transit Committee, Inga Sarkisyan – International Relations Director of Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia (UMBA) and Mohammed Aldulaimi – Board Member of Iraqi Businessmen Union (IBMU) were guest participants of the Meeting which mainly focused on:
1. Evaluation of the Second Business Forum of UBCCE
2. Presentation of UBCCE Thematic Committee Members, Business Country Desk Representatives and Strategy Paper Editorial Committee
3. Update on the contacts and achievements of UBCCE Secretariat
4. Discussion on upcoming activities and possibilities of cooperation with other business organizations
 

UBCCE Secretary General Murat Zöngür and ICIE Vice President Vladimir Kolmogorov signed a letter of intent on behalf of their respective organizations, to develop cooperation between the two organizations in areas of mutual interest and expressed the common will of both organizations to sign a Memorandum of Understanding during the next General Assembly of UBCCE to be held in March 2009.

UBCCE SECOND BUSINESS FORUM
DISCOVERING INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES OF SOUTHEAST ANATOLIA:
AN EMERGING REGION IN TURKEY
Şanlıurfa – Turkey, October 21 – 22

UBCCE, the first non governmental and volontary business organization of the Black Sea and Caspian region, organized its Second Business Forum, under the chairmanship of Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TÜSİAD), in Turkey on October 21 – 22, 2008.

This year’s Forum was held in the Southeastern city of Turkey, Şanlıurfa, with a view of sharing the opportunities of the Southeast Anatolia (known as GAP Region), the 4th biggest regional development plan in the world, with the representatives of the foreign business organizations.

UBCCE Business Forum was hosted by the GAP Administration and the Federation of Eastern Southeastern Industrialists’ and Business Association (DOGÜNSİFED).

Like the successful First UBCCE Business Forum held last year, in Baku, Azerbaijan, this year’s event brought together not only the business community of the Black Sea and Caspian Region but also the high level officials from Turkey and representatives of international organizations interested in the Region.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
EU & TURKISH PERSPECTIVES on BLACK SEA REGIONAL COOPERATION
Berlin, Germany, 29-30 May

The Südosteuropa-Gesellschaft (Southeast Europe Association) together with TÜSİAD and UBCCE organized an international conference on “EU and Turkish Perspectives on Black Sea Regional Cooperation” in Berlin on May 29-30. The aim of the Conference was to identify common interests between the EU, Turkey, and other countries adjacent to the Black Sea, and to develop common projects with concrete objectives.

The conference brought together participants from Germany, Turkey and the Wider Black Sea Region. Experts and decision makers from think tanks, politics, business, civil society, IFIs, representatives of the existing organizations of regional cooperation, the European Commission and other International Institutions were invited to present and discuss their views.

UBCCE HIGH LEVEL CONTACT VISIT TO BUSINESSEUROPE AND EUROPEAN COMMISSION

Brussels - Belgium, October 10, 2007

UBCCE delegation paid a visit to Brussels on October 10, 2007 to meet with BUSINESSEUROPE and European Commission officials with the aim of promoting and increasing the visibility of the Organization in the European capital. The High Level Visit programme, organized by Helenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) running the Vice-Presidency of UBCCE in charge of EU and BUSINESSEUROPE relations, has been attended by high level representatives from the national private sector organizations of Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Iran, Kazakhstan, Romania, Serbia and Turkey.

CONFERENCE ON "FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES FOR BLACK SEA AND CASPIAN REGION"

UBCCE First Business Forum on Foreign Direct Investment is held on 1-2 October 2007 in “Guba” Ballroom of Baku Hyatt Regency Hotel, in Azerbaijan.

Attended by over 300 delegates, the Forum brought together not only the business community of the Region but also the high level officials from different countries and representatives of international organizations interested in this emerging part of the globe.

Hosted by Azerbaijan Turkey Business Association (ATIB), this exclusive event had been inaugurated by Mrs. Arzuhan Doğan Yalçındağ (UBCCE and TUSIAD President) and H.E. Mr. Heydar Babayev (Minister of  Economic Development of Azerbaijan).

UBCCE FIRST THEMATIC COMMITTEE I MEETING

Bucharest - Romania, May 23, 2007

The First Thematic Committee I Meeting on "Regional Economic Integration" is held on 23 May 2007 in “Hora” Hall of InterContinental Bucharest Hotel, in Romania with the participation of representatives from the national private sector organizations of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Serbia and Turkey. Hosted by Alliance of Employers Confederations of Romania (ACPR) and Turkish Businessmen Association in Romania (TIAD), the meeting is attended by the representatives from member organizations along with HSH Prince Radu, Romanian officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy&Commerce and the Romanian Agency for Foreign Investment and representatives from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

UBCCE FOUNDING GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The first independent and voluntary business organization of the Black Sea and the Caspian region is being founded. Pioneered by TÜSİAD (Turkish Industrialists’ and Business Association) the Founding General Assembly of the Union of Black Sea and Caspian Confederation of Enterprises (UBCCE) has taken place in Istanbul on 27 November 2006 with the participation of representatives from the national private sector organizations of Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Iran, Kazakhstan, Romania, Serbia and Turkey.

CONFERENCE OF DIRECTOR GENERALS OF BLACK SEA AND CASPIAN ENTERPRISE FEDERATIONS

Istanbul - Turkey, June 26, 2006

The first Conference of Director Generals of Black Sea and Caspian Enterprise Federations Meeting is held on 26 June 2006 in Istanbul with the participation of representatives from the national private sector organizations of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Turkey.

The Secretary or Director Generals of these organizations as well as Ambassador Andrey Urnov, Deputy Secretary General of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) and Alexander Tolparov, Vice Consul of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul, have come together in order to assess the feasibility of “the Union of Black Sea and Caspian Confederation of Enterprises” project and to survey the willingness of potential participatory countries’ business organizations to become founding members of the above mentioned organization.
